It's your business. Your baby. It's future is in your hands. You are the one who has to make the decisions. Who has to deal with the uncertainty of the future.
And there is only one tool for taking action amid uncertainty: Strategy.
You might be thinking:
Isn't strategy an abstract concept with 100's of definitions, theories and philosophies?
Yes. It would take years to learn the works of strategic masters like Sun Tzu and Clausewitz. Add to that hundreds of strategy books for business. That's years of study without taking any action!
But you already know that spending time in the classroom won't get you where you want.
Yet the real value of strategy is hanging out there, waiting for you. It's not in the oceans of words from strategic papers, acronyms or case studies.
Sun Tzu won't give you a technique to make your company flow like water over, around and through your competitors.
You won't find a quick fix from Clausewitz to slay the industry giant in one decisive battle.
No, as you consider all that abstract strategic theory, something changes in you.
Your mindset.
That's just a word. What is a mindset?
Simply put, It's what you set your mind upon. Spend enough time reading those books and you will learn to set your mind on what is strategic - what's most valuable.
And when your mind is focused on what's most valuable, the decisions you make and the actions you take produce the greatest results. That's the strategic process...
Mindset + Information => Decisions => Actions => Results
This simple process is steered by your mindset. The better your mindset and information, the better your decisions. Better decisions naturally choose more valuable actions. More valuable actions produce more valuable results. It's inevitable.
But just because it's inevitable doesn't mean we want to take years to study strategy. There has to be a faster way!
So, you subscribe to newsletters, attend talks, read the latest publications to collect the newest and best information.
You go to seminars, bootcamps, conferences and workshops, and you buy information products to learn the latest techniques. You collect action after action.
You spend so much effort on solving the wrong problem! It's easy to find new tactics to try - you probably got 10 in your inbox this morning!
The hard part is knowing which action makes your business the strongest.
It's like a weightlifter who finds a great technique for getting huge biceps. He builds up his biceps but blind to the fact that he needs proper nutrition and sufficient rest. His results stall and he risks injury.
His mindset didn't allow him to see what was most valuable.
So let's apply a strategic mindset to the problem of learning strategy.
Is there a process that will give you the ability to see what's most valuable in your business, to make better decisions, take better action, and achieve greater results all without years of study?
The answer is yes. And it takes just 10 minutes a day.
